Tremaine Townsend is long, athletic, and a versatile forward who can play both inside and outside on the offensive end. Tremaine has close to a 7’0 wing span and causes matchup problems with opposing PFs because he can take them outside and knock down the NBA three point shot. His size and versatility make him a weapon at both the power forward and small forward positions. He can occasionally play center if needed. Tremaine is a rare find because he is a post player who can play inside as well as outside. Tremaine has the capability to produce a double-double anytime he steps on the court. He is an athletic forward with an extremely long wing span. Tremaine takes pride in rebounding and blocking shots and is very active on the defensive end. Tremaine was in the 2009 NBA Draft. Tremaine is getting strong consideration from several teams because he is long, athletic and a PF who can play inside and outside and can be effective in a run and gun style of program. Tremaine is very level headed on the court and never tries to do too much or get out of control. He has tremendous work ethic.
In 2008-09 Tremaine Townsend was named to the Division I First Team All-Big West Men’s Basketball Team and led the Big West in rebounds. Tremaine was also voted by the coaches a co-Defensive Player of the Year in the Big West. Tremaine also gained All-Tournament Big West honors by grabbing 22 rebounds in wins over UCSB in the semifinals and Pacific in the championship game. Tremaine was his team’s second leading scorer at 11 points per game and leading rebounder with 8.5 rebounds per game. He captured the conference rebound title for a second straight season. Tremaine helped lead his team to the Big West Conference championship and into the 2009 NCAA tournament. In 2007-08 Tremaine was named to the Second Team All-Big West selection and voted by the coaches as Defensive Player of the Year. He led the Big West in rebounding with 9.8 rebounds per game and in blocked shots at 1.2 blocks per game. Tremaine became the first CSUN player to win the conference rebound and blocked shot titles. Prior to attending CSUN Townsend was a standout student-athlete at Saddleback Community College. He earned all-state honors by the California Community College Basketball Coaches Association.
PersonalTremaine was born on December 11, 1986 in San Diego, CA. He received his degree in Recreation, Tourism & Management at CSUN. Tremaine is the son of Dawn and Kelly Townsend; he has one sister. In high school Tremaine received numerous honors as a student-athlete at North High School in Phoenix, AZ. Tremaine loves watching movies and eating new foods. He is a down to earth athlete who credits a lot of his accomplishments to his parents and to the Good Lord. His favorite NBA team is the Phoenix Suns and his favorite player is Kobe Bryant.
